Duszniki Zdroj

Jola and her mother went together for a 10 day trip to Duszniki Zdrój, a Spa located in the South-West of Poland close to the Czech border. 10 days of nice massages, hydromassages, mud masks, etc. and above all nice long walks in the beautiful nature there.
On 1st of May (Labor Day) I joined them for 2 days and we had a nice walk in the mountains together. Later that evening we visited an oldfashioned dancing and went to bed. On Tuesday we went to Czech and had some sightseeing there and finished off with a nice meal in a Czech restaurant. And of course, we drank original Czech pilsner! On Wednesday I took them both home where Jola's father and Jerry were waiting for them.

Jola en haar moeder zijn voor 10 dagen naar een Duszniki Zdrój geweest, een kuuroord in zuidwest Polen vlakbij de Tjechische grens. Tien dagen lekker genieten van massages, hydromassages, modderbaden, etc. En vooral ook genieten van de prachtige natuur tijdens lange wandelingen.
Op maandag 1 mei (Dag van de Arbeid) ben ik naar ze toe gegaan om nog even twee dagen te genieten. Op maandag hebben we nog heerlijk in de bergen gewandeld en zijn 's avonds naar een ouderwetse dancing geweest. En daarna vroeg naar bed.
Op dinsdag zijn we naar Tsjechië gereden en hebben daar wat rondgekeken. Afgesloten in een leuk Tsjechisch restaurant met natuurlijk origineel Tsjechische pilsner en daarna weer naar het hotel. Op woensdag heb ik ze beiden weer mee naar huis genomen waar Jola's vader en Jerry ons aan het opwachten waren.

Big boy

Jerry is now almost 9 months old and as you can see on the left side has grown from a small puppy into a youngster. From 10kg to 30 kg so to say :-) He is a little bit on the chubby side at the moment, but is on a strict diet and execrises a lot. But he is a great dog!

Jerry is nu bijna 9 maanden oud en zoals je kunt zien aan de linkerkant is hij van een kleine pup gegroeid tot een heuse tiener. Van 10 kilo tot 30 kilo zeg maar. Een beetje mollig, maar hij is op dieet en beweegt een boel. Is hij niet fantastisch?

Easter in Wrocław

Easter in Wrocław was a huge success. After the early mass in church (7AM) that we attended, Jola's parents visited us to join us in the Easter breakfast. They arrived round 10AM and then it could all start.

Pasen in Wrocław was een groot succes. Nadat we om 7 uur 's ochtends naar de kerk waren geweest, kwamen Jola's ouders bij ons op bezoek om het Paasontbijt te genieten. Ze arriveerden rond 10 uur en toen kon het beginnen.


The table was full with food... white sausages, ham, smoked fish, raw herring, salamis, cheese, and of course eggs... lots of eggs.
After the lent period we were finally allowed to eat meat again and drink some alcohol. So the bottle of wodka was opened and enjoyed by all of us.
De tafel was vol met eten... 'witte' worst, ham, gerookte vis, rauwe haring, salami, kaas en natuurlijk eieren... veel eieren.
Na de vastenperiode mochten we eindelijk weer vlees eten en alcohol nuttigen, dus de fles Wodka werd geopend en we hebben er heerlijk van gedronken.


As a bonus we had nice weather during these two days and had long nice walks with Jerry. On 2nd Easterday in the afternoon Jola's parents left again and we tired but satisfied sat down on the couch and... soon fell asleep.
Als bonus hadden we mooi weer tijdens deze twee dagen en hebben dus ook lekker met Jerry gewandeld. Op 2e Paasdag 's middags zijn Jola's ouders weer naar huis gegaan en zijn wij moe maar voldaan op de bank gaan hangen. 

Finally... there is sun!

Finally, the weather here starts to get very nice! On the left you see the prognosis for the coming week. Temperatures are rising to 25 C, and that is what we like. Let's get our summer clothes from the attic, let's construct our new gas barbeque, and let's enjoy our garden!

Eindelijk, het weer begint mooier te worden. Links zie je de prognose voor de komende week. Temperaturen voorspeld tot 25 C, en daar houden we van! Laten we de zomerkleren van zolder halen, laten we onze nieuwe gasbarbeque in elkaar zetten, en laten we gaan genieten van onze tuin!

Easter in Poland

This year we celebrate Easter at our home in Wrocławv together with Jola's parents. Easter is completely differently celebrated here in Poland than in The Netherlands. We have already been to the shops to buy decorations, drinks and foods, but on Saturday the real preparation starts. You can read about it in detail here.


Dit jaar vieren we Pasen bij ons thuis in Wrocław. Jola's ouders komen op bezoek en wij zijn nu al met de voorbereidingen bezig. Pasen wordt hier heel anders beleefd dan in Nederland en staat vol van tradities. Het begint allemaal op Paaszaterdag en de rest kun je hier lezen.
